Harford County police have not publicly speculated the reason for a fatal head-on collision that took place on a recent Thursday morning. The motor vehicle accident occurred in front of a swim club on Route 543 in Bel Air, Maryland. Accident reports say an elderly Bel Air man driving a Lexus smashed directly into an oncoming Chrysler.

The 27-year-old Chrysler driver and her 23-year-old female passenger were transported by separate medevac helicopters to Baltimore’s Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Hospital officials reported that both women were listed in fair condition the evening of the crash.

The 65-year-old driver of the Lexus sedan was taken to Baltimore’s Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he was treated and released the same day.
